all too depressing!
Is anybody but me just finding the Archers too depressing to listen to at the moment? Sheesh. It's worse than Emmagate.

Kenton and Jolene
The sound of Kenton and Jolene kissing just makes me ill! Ugh.

Kenton and Jolene? Do me a favour. Were they pulling names out of a hat?

how could they do it??
Who else tuned in and listened live today? This was my first time ever being able to do that. I saw the writing on the wall the minute they mentioned the sign on the roof, but really!!!

Alive or dead, what do you think? I'm guessing dead from all the sort of foreshadowing/build-up during the last week.

And hopefully with Helen and Tony speaking again, things will be less insufferable!

*sigh*
Okay, luckily she's not a real person, because I am wishing Helen the most troublesome, terrifying, unpredictable, complication-filled birth EVER. Her "know it all" advice and smug attitude deserves some comeuppance!

Okay, I would like to award Kate the latest "MOST ANNOYING WOMAN IN AMBRIDGE" award...

Chris and Alice?
I'm happy to say that I saw that coming...

Now Jennifer has to swallow her pride. Well, she doesn't have to, I guess. And she probably won't. But I hope Alice and Chris are happy.

Kathy/Kenton
Does anyone else want to smack both Kathy and Kenton upside the head and then lock them in a room and force them to tell each other how they *really* feel instead of just getting mad at each other all the time? I think we've heard enough already...

Though I'm thrilled that Pip is now free of Jude and acting like her old self again. Thank goodness!

Matt
What do you think? Is Matt alive? Has he left for good? And what will become of Lilian?

Not knowing the backstory past 2 years ago or so, why is she so close to Adam, anyway?

To err is human, to really screw things up requires a Grundy
I always thought that Fallon was too good for Ed.

While listening to yesterday's episode, I noticed that Phil pronounced "vacuum" as three syllables ("vac-you-um"), whereas on this side of the pond I'd only ever heard it pronounced as two syllables ("vac-yoom").  Is this another difference between American and English that I've just never noticed before, or is it an idiosyncrasy of Phil's pronunciation?

Does Pat have to make an effort to be so unlikeable, or does it just come naturally to her?  First she goes out of her way to be unpleasant to Adam when he's trying to express support for her.  Then, when she finally gets a bit of good news about the pack house, rather than just enjoy her own good fortune, she also takes time to revel in the problems that Adam and company are having with the AD.  I really feel sorry for Tony, having to put up with her.

One of the things I really like about The Archers is the way we'll often see the same sort of conflict playing out simultaneously in two different groups, sort of variations on a theme.  Take, for example, the current conflicts on the theme of family loyalty vs. business savvy.

I also noticed this sort of thing a couple of months ago with the "Adam & Debbie vs. Brian" and "Roy vs. Brenda" inheritance squabbles.

Just wondering...
Does anyone else here listen to Silver Street as well?  I started listening at the same time I started listening to The Archers (when the podcasts went up), and I'm really enjoying it.  They're having a particularly exciting time right now, so it might be a good time to check it out.  If you have questions after listening or want to be brought up to date, contact me and I'll do my best.  :-)
